Free & Easy Bedbug Cures!
Just the thought of bedbugs makes me start to itch! It just grosses me out. I am paranoid about bugs, dirt, crime and germs to begin with, now it is even worse!
Bed bugs are reaching epidemic levels with Ohio in the forefront. That’s only a few states away from Wisconsin, so I am getting ready to battle these little bloodsuckers!
The easiest way to get rid of bedbugs….freeze them out!
If you were traveling and you think you may have picked up bedbugs, simply leave your luggage outside. If the weather is below freezing, the bedbugs will die. Make sure to open that luggage up so that all the bugs freeze. I would suggest taking all your clothes off in the backyard and leaving those in the freezing cold temps also, including your shoes! With bedbugs you cannot be too careful!
If you think your entire house may be infested, simply turn off your heat, drain your water pipes and go somewhere else for a few days, just make sure you stay at a place that is not bedbug infested. If your house sits in freezing temps for a few days, all the bedbugs should freeze to death. Just make sure it is well below freezing before you try this. To me, this is the best and most economical way to get rid of bedbugs, and it treats the whole house, all at once!
I would think that freezing the bedbugs is the easiest way to get rid of them, if its not below freezing outside you can always use a freezer. However, if you live in a place where there is never a freeze, you will have to try deep steam cleaning. This might not work as well, but at least it is less expensive than getting a bedbug exterminator.
There are other ways of keeping bedbugs at bay. Always wash your clothes in hot water and use hot water and bleach for all whites, bedding, and bath towels and cloths. If you wash your bedding once a week, this method should zap the few bedbugs dead that you may have brought into your environment and will prevent a whole house infestation.
A lot of people use cold water to save money, but no amount of savings is worth the risk of bedbugs. Use HOT water on all your whites, and bedding, you will be healthier in the long run, as HOT water also kills cold and flu virus. And, don’t forget the bleach, it is a super germ fighter. In fact a friend of mine never used bleach as she was into saving the earth. One winter as she and her family were down with a cold every few weeks she asked me why I never got colds and flu, I told her I always use hot water and bleach on all my whites and beddings, and that I only have WHITE towels and wash cloths so that I could bleach those as well. She took my advice and it has been over 3 years now, and no one in her family has come down with a cold or flu! Yes, it really matters how you do your laundry!
I hope this will help those afflicted with bedbugs. I believe that we can get back to bedbugless status once again, and hopefully in my lifetime. So go out there and fight the good fight! It makes no difference if your freeze them out or steam them out, the only good bedbug, is a dead bedbug!
Goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite!

LOL Well, then it must be true. You know of course I like to tease, and we don't have any, yit. My one neighbor travels all over the globe and I have put a bug into his wife's ear to be on the lookout for them. Creeped her out too. My wife bought some of those electronic high pitched thingys to ward off bugs, don't know if it will help or not. Take care sweet Magnolia. Charlie
OMG! How did that woman sleep through all those bites? Nasty creatures and hard to get rid of.
Mag, Moving is always good. NY leads the country, but they do have more of everything. They are infesting Chicago now. I wonder if THEY are the #1 war for the USA to fight. Thanks for the info.

I had no idea you could kill bedbugs by freezing them to death. Very interesting!
How do I freeze them out in SE Asia it nevr drops below 70 here :-)
It can be a common problem in most cities. In Seattle, they recommend spraying with cedar oil, as you would for moths. It supposedly kills them on contact, and isn't harmful to skin, clothes, pets. This is allegedly the safest method to eliminate them.Hopefully I won't have to find out.
